Constitution

The Brixton Rec User Group represents the views of users with Lambeth Council and Active Lambeth who manage the Rec for the Council. The group is independent of Lambeth Council and Active Lambeth.

Aims of the User Group

  • Improve communication between the users of Brixton Recreation Centre and the Council.
  • Better response to user views in shaping the quality of service being delivered in Brixton Rec.
  • Improved customer/user satisfaction with services being provided at Brixton Rec.
  • Improved community engagement in design and delivery of service provided at Brixton Rec.

How does the User Group work?

  • Membership of the group is open to all Rec users.
  • Membership is free.
  • The Group will operate by email and notices posted in the Rec.
  • The Group will hold at least one all-member meeting per year (The Annual General Meeting - AGM) at which the committee will be elected. Members will be notified of this at least 2 weeks in advance.
  • The Committee will progress the interest of the Group in accordance with its aims and priorities set by the AGM and all-member meetings.
  • The Committee will comprise at least 6 and up to 10 people elected at the AGM.
  • The Committee will decide who each year will serve as Chairperson, Secretary and Communications Officer and create other posts as it or an all-member meeting decides.
  • Other all-member meetings will be held as need arises and in any case by a petition of at least 12 members.
  • An all-member meeting or the Committee may co-opt other members to serve on the Committee between AGMs.
  • Representatives from the Committee will meet with Lambeth at least 4 times a year.
This constitution was adopted at the AGM, October 2008. (Amended April 2023).
